ANC Uniforms

Many women serving in the ANC (Army Nurse Corps) were assigned to the AAF. By 1944, 6,000 nurses were on duty in AAF hospitals, while some 500 were acting as flight nurses, aiding in the air evacuation of the wounded. More than 60,000 Army nurses served stateside and overseas during WWII.

Army Nurse uniforms evolved greatly from 1940 to 1945. The nurses were issued a variety of dress uniforms, work and cold weather gear, hospital dresses, and field gear. The link below provides extensive information on ANC uniforms, along with many photographs and illustrations.
