Harold Hackett Collection
First Lieutenant, Harold E. "Bud" Hackett, Jr. was assigned to the 47th Bombardment Group (Light), 97th Bomb Squadron. Bud Hackett, was a navigator-bombardier on an A-20 aircraft flying out of Corsica during World War II.
1st LT Hackett was credited with 45 combat missions from July 26, 1944 thru February 5, 1945. His plane was shot down on this mission and evaded capture returning to allied lines. During his overseas service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters.
