Constituted as 87th Fighter Wing on 14 Oct 1943 and activated on 25 Oct. Moved overseas, Dec 1943-Jan 1944, and operated with Twelfth AF in the Mediterranean theater from Apr 1944 until the wing's groups were reassigned in Sep 1944. Disbanded in Italy on 1 Apr 1945.

We accept electronic/scans or originals of pictures and paper records. A General Order could be an award document that contains information on many servicemen. Special Orders may contain transfers or other information. Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
