Dedicated as the Barbara Donley Farrell Library the AACLM Library is a combination digital library and regular library. We have a growing collection of books, documents and photos and are looking for more to be donated. The digital library is the material found on this website and all of our associated websites. As of early 2024 we have information on over 500,000 servicemen including awards, photos and more.
We are getting ready to open up a new section to this part of the museum collection. We are looking for biographies, unit histories and photos. Please contact us if you can and wish to add to this collection.
Personnel records containing orders, list of orders with names of many servicemen, squadron or group rosters, award documents, aircraft tail numbers and nose art or plane names are examples of documents or extract lists in which we are interested.
As an example, we have copies of General Orders for the 15th Air Force. This is encompassed in 25,000 pages of documents. As of 2023 our amazing volunteers had transcribed all of these documents and the material displays on one of our many websites. We have thousands of documents such as this and we need volunteers to help us transcribe this data. If you are interested in helping out, please contact us.
The Library serves as a memorial for Barbara Ruth Donley Farrell (1928-2017) a longtime librarian working in schools, public libraries and the Mobil Corporation. Her late husband James Farrell (1921-2003) was a member of the Army Air Corps and USAF and she was one of our original Directors. Barbara was a very patriotic woman and supporter of the armed services.
