Andrew Sziich Collection

Andrew Sziich was KIA 22 May 1944 while piloting his P-38 while assigned to the 37th Fighter Squadron, 14th Fighter Group.

Andy enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 28, 1942. At that time he was 5 '8" tall and weighed 145 pounds and was a Machinists apprentice. Consult "Places I Have Been" page from Andy's Diary and read Major Young's history of the Fighting 37th , to find out where Andy went through basic and flight school. He became a Cadet June 21, 1942, and received his commission on April 29, 1943. His Diary begins August 20, 1943 after he received orders to ship out.
