Charles Binkley Collection

Charles Binkley Served with the 762nd Bomb Squadron, 460th Bombardment Group. His MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) was a Navigator. He attended the Hondo Army Air Field, Hondo, Texas Class 44-11-5A, August 18, 1944 and Navigator Squadron 96 at the Santa Ana Army Air Base, March 1944.

This collection contains photos of his class at Hondo and Santa Ana Fields and a large number of overseas maps and navigational aids.

As a Navigator with the 460th Bombardment Group, Lt. Binkley had access and use of many maps including ones that located intelligence gathered Flak zones that surrounded targets and were dispersed along flight paths.

On one mission, Lt. Binkley and crew were downed behind enemy lines but were able to evade capture.
