Jackson Byers

Lt. Jackson Byers was a member of the 44th Troop Carrier Squadron, 316th Troop Carrier Group. He would deliver Paratroops of the 101st Airborne to their drop near St-Mere-Eglise off the beaches of Normandy, France on D-Day, 6 June 1944.

The 316thTCG 44th TCS would transport members of the 1/505th PIR and HQ of the 82nd Airborne during Operation Market Garden in the fall of 1944.

Interestingly, this uniform and visor were in the process of being thrown out before they were rescued by one of our Directors. We are saving Military History One Soldier At A Time.
