Next Steps: Captain Bauwin was the pilot of a B-26 Invader bomber with the 37th Bomber Squadron, 17th Bomber Wing, stationed at Pusan Airfield (K-9), South Korea. On January 13, 1953, shortly after take off from Pusan, his aircraft crashed into the sea and exploded, killing all three on board. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. ** Captain Bauwin was awarded the Air Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
