Next Steps: Captain Behnfeldt was a member of the 14th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. On August 19, 1972, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Phantom II Reconnaissance Fighter (RF-4C) on a mission over North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on September 24, 1987 and identified on December 4, 1987. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. **
