Next Steps: Captain Zimmerlee was the bombardier of a B-26B Invader bomber with the 730th Bomber Squadron, 452nd Bomber Wing. On March 22, 1952, while on an armed reconnaissance near Kangdong, contact was lost with the aircraft. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on February 28, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. ** Captain Zimmerlee was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
